The Comprehension of Consciousness Is Not the Realization of Manas

How easily it seems to attain supernatural powers! Is the conscious understanding and perception proof of attainment? If it is proof of attainment, supernatural powers should manifest immediately. If supernatural powers do not manifest, then there is no attainment of supernatural powers. In that case, conscious understanding is utterly useless, incapable of exerting any force, and cannot yield the slightest merit or benefit of liberation. The same applies to the eradication of self-view and the realization of the true mind. Conscious understanding holds not the slightest merit or benefit; it is not genuine eradication of self-view. No matter how much the consciousness may perceive the five aggregates as devoid of self, this is not the realization of selflessness, nor is it the eradication of self-view. Therefore, reading a book a hundred times until its meaning seems clear is futile; it remains merely conscious understanding, not the realization by the manas. This principle is extremely important. I earnestly hope you will take it to heart and contemplate it deeply. Do not continue to regard emotional thinking and intellectual understanding as supreme, great, and precious, thereby misleading yourselves and then others.
