The Five Aggregates, Eighteen Realms, and Twelve Entrances are all formed through the convergence of various causes and conditions; when the causes and conditions disperse, they vanish. Thus, they are illusory, devoid of inherent reality, and without an enduring self. How is this principle to be truly comprehended? The conscious mind can roughly grasp it through mental reflection, yet one knows inwardly that this is not genuine understanding—knowing that it is so without yet knowing why it is so. There remains a need to continue deepening one's precise and thorough clarity. This requires that, within meditative concentration, one suspends this principle in the forefront of the mind, allowing the mind-root to contemplate it. The contemplation of the mind-root does not cling to objects; it maintains a certain elevated perspective, termed "viewing from a high vantage point," also known as "deep and meticulous investigation."
