Wherever attention is, one feels that thoughts are there.

Question: For the past couple of days while sitting in meditation reciting the Buddha's name, previously the recitation would disappear before my eyes and I could no longer recite it. Starting yesterday, I felt the thought vanish from below my navel. If this continues, will it lead to deviation?

Answer: This is merely a matter of attention. Wherever your attention is placed, that is where you feel the thought to be. When the mind is kept at the dantian, the qi arrives at the dantian, the body's qi meridians are unobstructed, and the mind is pure, thoughts easily cease to arise. So there will be no deviation.
