All Practitioners Must Undergo Various Trials

Every Buddhist practitioner will inevitably face various trials and tribulations. Resisting the karmic forces accumulated over countless kalpas is exceedingly difficult; even a Bodhisattva reborn encounters numerous adverse conditions. Cultivation is like sailing against the current—it requires the courage to brave fierce storms and unwavering perseverance, along with the great vow of a Bodhisattva, to avoid being overwhelmed by the tempest.

As spiritual attainment grows an inch, demonic obstacles rise a foot. The very aspiration to advance invites tribulation; whenever there is noticeable progress in practice, karmic obstacles will manifest. Yet, one’s resolve for the path and fervent diligence are inconceivable, just as the Buddha’s power is inconceivable. With sustained, unwavering diligence, the Buddha’s protection will surely be present. Demonic hindrances will have no power over us. Believing this enables one to overcome all difficulties.

Without long-term foresight, immediate troubles will arise. By broadening our perspective and focusing on the future, the path beneath our feet becomes easier to tread, and the challenges before us become easier to surmount.
