Dharma Teachings

Proposition, Reason, Example

Each topic is akin to a short essay, requiring one to establish a thesis, then expand upon it with evidence, employing metaphors for illustration or citing concrete examples.

"Zong" (宗) refers to the central tenet, one's own thesis.

"Yin" (因) represents the evidence, arguments, and facts.

"Yu" (喻) denotes apt and vivid metaphors used to elucidate the central tenet.

Only by mastering this method can one participate in forum discussions and engage in debates on the Dharma. Without this ability, one should refrain from any form of debate. Practicing eloquence offstage may be acceptable.

However, eloquence does not equate to sound logical thinking, nor does it ensure the clear articulation of facts, mastery of truth, or possession of great wisdom. Eloquence pales in comparison to intellect and logical reasoning.
