Karmic Actions and Retribution

There is no karmic action that is without its retribution. Therefore, everyone must be extremely careful and cautious in speech and action, and must not act recklessly or speak nonsense the moment they open their mouth—especially regarding the Buddha-dharma, one must not simply assume things and act on one's own presumptions. The Buddha said that before attaining the fruit of an arhat, one should not trust one's own mind, for one's own mind is not to be trusted. Once one commits evil karma with regard to the Buddha-dharma, the suffering of the Avīci hell is countless times greater than anything in the human world—it is simply unbearable.
