Do the buddhas see deluded dharmas? They do see, yet they do not interpret them as deluded dharmas, nor do they use them as deluded dharmas. With the great countenance of compassion, they accompany sentient beings in play, entering the mud and water for the sake of sentient beings, their minds pure and free of delusion like the lotus flower. Does the tathāgatagarbha see deluded marks? It does not see them; it does not see composite marks, does not see marks of combination, does not see marks of unity, does not see marks of change—it sees only the original mark. Abiding in the original mark, it provides sentient beings with all dharmas, entering the mud and water without being stained in the slightest—supremely pure!
With which eye do sentient beings see that there are mountains, rivers, and the great earth? It is the flesh eye that sees. The flesh eye is blind—why is the flesh eye blind? Because the mind-eye is blind, the flesh eye must be blind. Why is the mind-eye blind? It has been so since beginningless kalpas; there is no reason—ignorance has no cause. Since beginningless kalpas, how many eyes have been blind? The eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and manas—seven eyes in total—all of them are blind. Once the manas is blind, all the others follow in blindness; there is no seeing eye.
What should one do if one no longer wishes to be blind? How can one act so as to see the light? With blind eyes one has created unwholesome karma—has one created enough? With blind eyes one has received evil retribution—has one received enough? Enough. Since it is enough, from this moment on, do no evil whatsoever, practice every good!
