On Speaking Without Thinking (Part 1)

"Blurting out" demonstrates the functional role of which consciousness? Is it the six consciousnesses or the seventh consciousness that predominates? It is the functional role of the seventh consciousness, the mental faculty. When it contacts sense objects, it immediately recognizes the sensory realm, makes a decision, and reacts, leaving no room for the sixth consciousness (mental consciousness) to deliberate further. Without allowing the sixth consciousness to reconsider, it arbitrarily makes a decision, and the six consciousnesses immediately comply. Afterward, one might feel regret. This occurs when the sixth consciousness, through analysis and reflection, realizes that the previous action was improper or too reckless, leading to remorse.
