Outside the window, rain pours down heavily. Is the rain within or outside the mind? Where do the raindrops fall? Each drop strikes your mind—does it strike the Tathagatagarbha or something else? Could it shatter the window of the mind? And if it shatters, what then? Can this rain be altered by human will? If so, why do so many suffer from floods? If not, why are there those who remain untouched by a single drop, who can summon wind and rain, or dispel gloomy weather for clear skies?
Who can perceive the form of rain while immediately detaching from it, unbound by its appearance? Who can see the form of rain as the form of the mind, with thoughts arising and ceasing without abiding?
Since the rain is within the mind, why does such a heavy downpour occur within your heart? If you step outside and endure a torrential downpour, would it affect you?
Although what the seventh consciousness apprehends are illusory projections, these illusions appear overwhelmingly real. Form, sound, smell, taste, and touch are all vivid and three-dimensional—how could it not feel real? Yet, to liberate body and mind, what must be done?
