The Non-Empirical Nature of Consciousness as Mere Mental Fabrication

Using a telescope, one can observe the distant stars in the sky, the boundless expanse of the ocean, and the mountains and lands at the horizon, yet the physical body remains separated by countless mountains and rivers. No matter how far or high one sees, it does not equate to being physically present. Established goals are not reached by pointing fingers, nor by empty words; they require the feet to measure the distance, and thus one must always take the first step. Step by step, one must walk—not run, not jump, and certainly not leap—to ensure a steady arrival at the destination. Do not resent the long journey and resort to mental fantasies; do not resent the hardship and resort to mental fantasies; and do not resent the costly journey and resort to mental fantasies. Indulging in illusions will ultimately lead to a world of fantasy. To attain the realm of truth, one must use the manas to set foot on solid ground, step by step, measuring and touching every inch of the land.
