Consciousness emerges only after four or five months. The manifestation of the material body occurs without the involvement of consciousness, and even after consciousness is born, it has little to do with it. At best, consciousness ranks third, and many significant events do not require its participation. This shows that the Tathāgatagarbha and the manas, when combined, can create the universe, the vessel world, and the world of the five aggregates—truly remarkable. They do not need consciousness to devise plans or offer any suggestions. Only after the world is created does consciousness emerge to enjoy and undergo retribution.
