Commentary on the Sutra of the Father and Son Assembly (43)

What is the wind element within the body?

O King, what is the wind element within the body, the light, moving, and other characteristics? That is, this internal wind sometimes ascends, sometimes descends, or resides in the abdomen, or in the ribs or back, or causes rashes, or gathers into lumps, or is like a knife cut, or like a needle prick; the in-breath and out-breath, etc., pervade all the limbs of the body.

O King, what is the wind element within the body, the light, floating, moving, and other characteristics? That is, the wind in the body that moves from below upwards; or from above downwards; or from left to right, or from right to left; or that resides in the abdomen, waist, ribs, or back; or that causes eczema, swelling into lumps; or that makes the body feel pain like being cut by a knife or pricked by a needle; and the wind of the in-breath and out-breath entering and exiting the body; these kinds of wind pervade all the limbs of the body.
