Are Defiled Seeds to Be Transformed or Eradicated?

Defiled seeds are the seeds left behind by karmic actions performed with a defiled mind. Once these seeds ripen, sentient beings suffer negative retribution. Once the retribution is exhausted, the seeds are eradicated. If one repents the defiled karma and the mind becomes purified, the defiled seeds will also be eliminated. Consequently, in future lives, one will either not suffer negative retribution or suffer less of it. Therefore, defiled seeds are eradicated. As ignorance gradually diminishes, the mind becomes increasingly purified, and wisdom gradually increases. The elimination of defiled seeds progressively increases until they are completely extinguished. When the mind is completely and utterly purified, one attains Buddhahood. As ignorance becomes increasingly faint and wisdom increasingly profound, defilements diminish progressively, while pure virtuous actions increase. Ultimately, only pure karmic actions and seeds remain, with no defiled karmic actions or seeds.
