Substance refers to the obstructive material form composed of the four great seeds; the substantial four great seeds constitute the five dusts. The image-only condition based on the five dusts is called the image-only condition with substance, whereas the image-only condition unrelated to the five dusts belongs to the image-only condition without substance. The sense-accompanying consciousness corresponds to the image-only condition with substance, while the independent consciousness corresponds to the image-only condition without substance. Recollection is certainly the independent mental process of recalling past events; the corresponding image-only condition of dharma dust does not involve the five dusts, thus it belongs to the image-only condition without substance.
