The Goal of Spiritual Practice and the Essence of Śīla, Samādhi, and Prajñā

The purpose of spiritual practice should not be fixated on attaining fruition, as fruition is merely a byproduct. With the aim of subduing afflictions, eliminating ignorance, attaining great and immeasurable wisdom, and delivering sentient beings, this objective becomes pure and unobstructed.

The essence of Precepts, Concentration, and Wisdom is to cultivate the mind through Precepts and Concentration, thereby enabling the mind to generate wisdom. Precepts fundamentally serve to eliminate afflictions, eradicate self-nature, and remove obscurations. Only by eliminating obscurations can the mind refrain from wrongdoing, attain Concentration, engage in profound contemplation, and ultimately give rise to wisdom.
