The Manas Never Rests

The part already known by consciousness requires no further thought, for the manas silently deliberates on its own. The deliberation method of manas is highly unique, differing from the conscious contemplation. This uniqueness lies in the fact that consciousness finds it extremely difficult to observe the deliberative nature and manner of manas. Consequently, many people deny that manas possesses any thinking or mental activities. Such individuals are far too reckless and overconfident.

During moments without speech, when the mind is silent, consciousness ceases contemplation, yet manas continues working, never halting. Consciousness may frequently stop its contemplative activities, entering rest or sleep states, but manas never rests. It ceaselessly deliberates on various issues, operating so covertly that consciousness cannot detect it. When manas deliberates, it is profoundly deep, difficult to observe, capable of consuming brain energy and triggering neural fluctuations in brainwaves.

Therefore, when a person neither speaks nor analyzes, we must never assume they lack thoughts, concepts, decisions, or that their mental activity has ceased into quietude. This is not so. Their manas is rapidly rotating, functioning, deliberating, weighing, and examining—deeply and covertly. Subsequently, their mind establishes certain principles, forms decisions, develops convictions, and makes choices, though not necessarily expressing them outwardly or revealing them to others. Yet the mind truly gains strength, attitudes become resolute, even unshakable.

In contrast, when consciousness reaches conclusions or decisions through contemplation and analysis, the mind does not achieve such firmness; it remains wavering and indecisive. This is because manas remains unaware and uncomprehending, inevitably leaving doubt within the mind.
