The Origin of Dukkha

The source of all suffering is the self-centered notion of the lesser self. The greater Self possesses no sense of grandeur, hence it is great. The lesser self is perpetually burdened by the consciousness and concept of "I," hence it remains small.

The heavier the sense of "I" weighs in one's heart, the smaller the self becomes. Some people, burdened by an overwhelming lesser self, want the whole world to revolve around them, only to find themselves encountering obstacles everywhere and suffering immensely.
