The most ultimate explanation of the concept of "pratyakṣa" (direct perception) should be that it is genuine wisdom capable of observing the true reality, discerning the essence beneath surface phenomena, remaining unconfused by illusory appearances, and knowing the substantive meaning of things without resorting to conjecture, speculation, or laborious comparison. The pratyakṣa wisdom of Mahayana Bodhisattvas is inconceivable. Upon seeing the emergence of a dharmic phenomenon, they can observe how it is produced—how it is entirely fashioned by the eighth consciousness through seeds, from the inside out and from the large to the small, as a function and manifestation of the eighth consciousness, with the whole being none other than the eighth consciousness itself. This wisdom alone is the true pratyakṣa observational wisdom. The wisdom attained through mind-realization and enlightenment does not even constitute complete pratyakṣa wisdom.
