Q&A on the Contemplation of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness 6

Question: Recently, I've been experiencing leg cramps. Could meditation cause ankle arthritis?

Answer: Meditation is not the cause of illness but a method to uncover latent ailments. Certain parts of the body may already harbor underlying conditions that have not yet manifested. During meditation, when the meridian flow reaches obstructed areas where illnesses reside, these hidden ailments become apparent. Both arthritis and leg cramps are temporary phenomena that may arise during meditation. Once the meridian flow passes through, areas like the legs and feet with pre-existing conditions can heal. However, if the symptoms are severe, medical treatment should be sought to overcome the illness promptly, rather than enduring it forcefully.
