The Wrong View of Grasping the Aggregate of Feeling as Self

Among all the views of self, those who take the aggregate of feeling as the self are the most numerous; those who attach importance to the aggregate of feeling are the most numerous; and those who create karma for the sake of feelings and sensations are the most numerous. Enduring suffering for the sake of face is precisely letting the physical body suffer for the sake of the feelings and sensations of the conscious mind—quite a few people are like this. Throughout history, there have been many who died in order to leave their name behind, which is called "having one's name passed down through the ages." There are those who died for the sake of loyalty, died for the sake of face, died for the sake of vanity, died for the sake of reputation, died for the sake of...—there are far too many such people, aren't there?

All of these people are those who gravely take the conscious mind as the self, and all of them cling to the conscious mind even more severely than they cling to the physical body.
