Direct Observation and Verification of Truth Is Enlightenment

Knowing the nature of Tathagatagarbha does not equate to enlightenment. As stated in the Buddhist scriptures, if it is taught there, then it is not self-realized; what one realizes oneself will certainly not be found in the scriptures. Understanding the pure nature of Tathagatagarbha is not realization. To perceive the pure nature of Tathagatagarbha, one must first locate where Tathagatagarbha resides, understand how it functions, and how it operates in conjunction with the five aggregates. Only then can one observe the purity of Tathagatagarbha in its operation. Content understood based on scriptural texts or teachings from others is merely intellectual comprehension—something achievable through studying the Dharma, nothing particularly remarkable. What is most precious is the truth personally observed and verified by oneself. Its verbal expression can be unique, highly specific, and not a vague or generalized discussion.
