Bodhisattvas learn from the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the Ten Directions for innumerable kalpas. The correct teachings they expound belong to the Dharma of the Buddhas of the Ten Directions, while the erroneous parts pertain to their own still-imperfect cultivation and realization. The Dharma cannot belong exclusively to a single Buddha, let alone to a bodhisattva; ordinary beings certainly cannot possess the Dharma. He who possesses the Buddha-Dharma is a Buddha; he who possesses the bodhisattva-dharma is a bodhisattva; he who possesses the dharma of ordinary beings is an ordinary being. People at each level possess the dharma corresponding to their level. Therefore, everyone should resolve with great determination to attain perfect Buddhahood as swiftly as possible, for only then can they swiftly become Buddhas.
