The Principle of Karmic Causality

The matter of spiritual resonance pertains to the manas. The manas, following the Tathagatagarbha, knows all things without exception; it is merely the conscious mind that remains unaware. When the manas becomes aware of certain extraordinary matters, it manifests physical or emotional reactions—such as goosebumps all over the body, inexplicable joy, inner restlessness and anxiety, a sense of foreboding, or a solemn demeanor. All secret deeds committed by people may deceive the conscious mind, but they cannot deceive the manas and the Tathagatagarbha. Consequently, there will inevitably be karmic retribution in the future. The unconscious distancing or closeness that arises between people stems precisely from matters unknown to the conscious mind. Therefore, we should diligently guard and restrain our minds, committing not the slightest transgression, so that our hearts remain pure, our karmic seeds remain pure, and our karmic retribution remains pure.
