Regarding the golden basin, each person sees it differently. Some see its golden nature: when they need a gold ornament, they take it to be crafted into a gold ornament; when they need a gold brick, they take it to be crafted into a gold brick. But the vast majority see only the appearance of a basin, using it to hold water and food, and some even use it only to hold stolen goods.
The five aggregates (pañcaskandha) body is in itself a house of gold. The Buddhas use it to vastly benefit countless sentient beings, while sentient beings use it to harbor filth and store corruption, failing to put it to good use.
