Consciousness should carefully ponder the issue, thoroughly understand it, and condense it into a single point, profoundly suspended within the heart. In this way, the issue is handed over to the mind base (manas). Consciousness can engage in thought or refrain from thought; sometimes thinking is necessary, sometimes it is not. It can be occupied with other matters or remain quiet. It is best if it can cooperate with the mind base without scattering attention. Because if consciousness is occupied with other matters, it will inevitably transmit information to the mind base, increasing the burden on the mind base, preventing it from concentrating and making it unable to deliberate and produce a result.
