How to Seek Out the Eighth Consciousness

In Chan meditation, seeking to realize the eighth consciousness, one must not only understand the nature of the eighth consciousness, but also know where He reveals Himself everywhere. ...... Since the eighth consciousness pervades all places, where is He not? Where is He absent? Without Him, there would be nothing at all—no "where," no "what place." With Him, there is everything; there is "where," there is "what place." What a flexible and agile dharma this is! There is no need to make the mind consciousness rigid and lifeless, nor is there any need to make a great fuss over the mind consciousness. We need only let the mind consciousness introspect—observe where it comes from, observe where it arises—and we will naturally find the way home. After finding and realizing Him, wisdom will arise, thereby giving rise to the prajñā wisdom of true suchness; and when that wisdom is perfected and complete, one will attain buddhahood.
