When seeking realization through Chan meditation to attain the eighth consciousness, it is essential not only to comprehend the nature of the eighth consciousness but also to understand where it manifests. ... Since the eighth consciousness pervades all places, nowhere is without it, and no place lacks it. Without it, nothing exists, nor is there any "where" or "place." With it, everything exists, including "where" and "place." What a wondrously adaptable Dharma! There is no need to make the conscious mind rigid and inflexible, nor is it necessary to overanalyze the conscious mind. We need only turn the conscious mind inward to observe its source and observe where it arises. Naturally, we will find the way home. Upon attaining realization of it, wisdom will arise, giving rise to the prajna wisdom of true reality. When this wisdom is fully perfected, one will attain Buddhahood.
