The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra, Volume Thirty-Four (81)

The practitioner of the inferior path: By means of this cultivation, one is able to eradicate the grossest and highest-grade defilements.

The practitioner of the intermediate path: By means of this cultivation, one is able to eradicate all intermediate-grade defilements.

The practitioner of the superior path: By means of this cultivation, one is able to eradicate all the final remaining inferior-grade defilements.

Explanation: The meaning of cultivating the inferior path is that, due to this cultivation, one can eradicate the coarsest and most severe highest-grade defilements. The meaning of cultivating the intermediate path is that, due to this cultivation, one can eradicate all intermediate-grade defilements. The meaning of cultivating the superior path is that, due to this cultivation, one can eradicate all the final remaining inferior-grade defilements to be eliminated.
