Original: From this Vajropamasamādhi, the coarse seeds of all afflictive categories are permanently and uninterruptedly eradicated. The mind attains complete liberation from all afflictions, realizing ultimate purity of lineage. Simultaneously with the complete exhaustion of all afflictions, the wisdom of extinction arises. Because the causes are exhausted, future suffering will never again arise. At this very moment, the wisdom of non-arising emerges. At that time, one becomes an Arhat: all outflows have ceased; what was to be done has been done; there is nothing more to be done; self-benefit is attained; the fetters of existence are exhausted; the holy teachings of the Tathāgata have been rightly upheld; and the mind is thoroughly liberated.
Explanation: From this Vajropamasamādhi onward, all coarse seeds of afflictive categories are permanently and uninterruptedly eradicated. The mind attains complete liberation from afflictions, realizing ultimate purity of lineage. Simultaneously with the complete exhaustion of all afflictions, the worldly wisdom of extinction arises. Because the causes of afflictions are exhausted, the suffering results of future lives will never again arise. Concurrently with the exhaustion of afflictions, the wisdom of non-arising regarding the world of the five aggregates emerges. At this point, the practitioner at the third fruition becomes a fourth-fruition Arhat: all outflows have ceased; what was to be done has been done; there will be no further becoming; the fetters of the three realms are exhausted; the holy teachings of the Tathāgata have been perfectly upheld; and the mind is thoroughly liberated.
The fourth-fruition Arhat possesses the uninterrupted wisdom of extinction and the wisdom of non-arising. The uninterrupted wisdom of extinction refers to the wisdom capable of uninterruptedly eradicating all worldly afflictions, extinguishing all suffering within the three realms, and knowing how to transcend the three realms to attain liberation—this wisdom is called the uninterrupted wisdom of extinction. The wisdom of non-arising refers to realizing the suffering, emptiness, impermanence, and selflessness of the world of the five aggregates, thoroughly understanding that the world of the five aggregates is illusory, therefore unarisen and unreal—this wisdom is called the wisdom of non-arising.
