What is the patient acceptance of the non-arising of dharmas?

The dharma of non-arising not only encompasses the no-self of persons within the five aggregates (pañca-skandha), but also includes the further, more subtle dharma of no-self of dharmas. Accepting and realizing the no-self of dharmas is itself a great wisdom, called the patience with the dharma of non-arising (anutpattika-dharma-kṣānti). The patience with the dharma of non-arising is the wisdom-realm of realizing the consciousness-only nature and tathatā nature of all dharmas; it is also the realm of tathatā samādhi, transcending the stage of the three virtuous eons (trayaḥ-saṃbhāra), partially realizing the one true dharma realm, possessing the seed-wisdom of consciousness-only (vijñapti-mātratā), and entering the consciousness-only stages of the first bhūmi and above.

In the Mahāyāna, during the stage of the three virtuous eons, one must pass through the three barriers of the Chan school, and must realize wisdom-realms such as the contemplation of mirage-like phenomena and the contemplation of all things as like a dream. The realization of the principle of prajñā gradually becomes deeper and more refined, and the levels of wisdom become ever deeper; when they reach a certain depth, one will possess a portion of the seed-wisdom of consciousness-only, thereby entering the first bhūmi and attaining a portion of the patience with the dharma of non-arising. What is realized at this time? What is realized is tathatā—that is, one realizes that all dharmas possess a portion of the tathatā nature. At this point it is called partial realization—partial realization of buddhahood, partial realization of the Dharmakāya, and it is also called partial realization of the patience with the dharma of non-arising.

What does "non-arising" mean, and what does "patience" mean? We already know these. There is also the meaning of "dharma": the scope of this dharma is deeper, more subtle, and more expansive than the scope of the five aggregates, encompassing all events, principles, notions, and concepts in the world. In general terms, it is material form (rūpa-dharma) and mental dharmas (citta-dharma). The five aggregates also contain material form and mental dharmas, but their scope is narrow and their levels shallow, and the wisdom gained is lower than the wisdom of the patience with the dharma of non-arising, which realizes the non-arising of all dharmas. The wisdom of the patience with the dharma of non-arising is also called omniscience/wisdom of all aspects (sarvākārajñatā) or the seed-wisdom of consciousness-only. When the wisdom of omniscience is brought to perfection, it is the Buddha's omniscient wisdom.
