In interpersonal relationships, sincere communication stems from the genuineness of manas, while false pretense and perfunctoriness are the disguises of mano-vijnana. Tacit understanding refers to the harmonious coordination between manas; without words or expression, there is a meeting of minds. When manas can cooperate tacitly, it indicates that both individuals are intelligent and mutually comprehend each other. Conversely, no matter how mano-vijnana expresses or explains through language, if the other party fails to understand, it indicates that the other person is unintelligent. Therefore, true wisdom and intelligence must refer to manas; great wisdom, great courage, and great strategy must refer to manas. Petty cleverness belongs to the intelligence of mano-vijnana, which proves useless at critical moments.
Whether a person possesses great wisdom, high emotional and intellectual intelligence, must refer to manas, not to mano-vijnana. Mano-vijnana is entirely about scheming; it becomes ineffective when circumstances change, especially proving useless in life-and-death crises. Generally speaking, those with great wisdom speak little and prefer silence, for manas itself is deep and wordless; those with petty cleverness enjoy showcasing themselves, employing schemes and tactics, which corresponds to mano-vijnana.
