During regular recitation of the Buddha's name, consciousness imbues the manas (mental faculty). When the manas, now imbued with the Buddha's presence and understanding the benefits of recitation, encounters danger in a dream, it directly invokes the thought of the Buddha. The Buddha's name is uttered spontaneously, without requiring conscious deliberation or a decision to recite. Being able to recite the Buddha's name in a dream constitutes true recitation, which enables a connection with the Buddha. Once the Buddha's power extends its blessing, the nightmare vanishes. The environment changes with the mind, and dreams are more illusory than reality. Thus, the moment the thought of reciting the Buddha's name arises, the nightmare realm disappears, and the mental state transforms from suffering to one of peace and serenity.
