Using divination and other methods to pry into the other person's information constitutes theft.

Obtaining others' secrets and private information through worldly supernatural powers, arithmetic, and other improper means constitutes stealing. Some people know the I Ching and the Eight Trigrams and use them to calculate and divine others' trade secrets, corporate information, and confidential information and resources. All such information generally belongs to the secrets of individuals and organizations; to divine and grasp others' information without their consent constitutes stealing. If the value involved is great, the offense committed is also great; if the other party suffers losses in material benefits or reputation, the offense is even greater and cannot be repented of. Especially with regard to the Three Jewels, one must not have any thought or engage in any behavior of prying; whatever one is not permitted to know, one should not scheme, speculate about, or divine by every possible means. Be an upright and honorable person—only when the mind is upright and the person is upright, and one is of noble character and high prestige, can one become a sage.

When ghosts and spirits secretly intrude into and occupy others' living space, it constitutes stealing; producing counterfeit and shoddy products, abusing one's official authority, and impersonating others also constitute stealing. America speaks of human rights—the most basic legitimate rights of every person as a human being—if they are used, encroached upon, or deprived by others, it also constitutes stealing, except for those punished by law and for illegal and illegitimate rights. When parents make decisions on behalf of their children, or children make decisions on behalf of their parents, without each other's knowledge—and even if they knew, they would not consent—when people make decisions in place of one another without notifying the other party, it also constitutes stealing; it is an act of stealing the other party's autonomy.

People's use of the basic conditions for survival on this earth is the equal human right of every person and should not be deprived by any reason or in any form; otherwise it constitutes stealing. For example, a public area belongs to the public domain or to the scope of government administration; if an individual privately encloses it to run a parking lot and forcibly charges fees, profiting from what one had no right to profit from, this is stealing. People who are adept at scheming, who only want to take and never to give, have a thieving mind; any mind that seeks to take advantage is a thieving mind.

The stronger a person's sense of self, the less they respect others, the less they take others seriously, and the more they will forcibly substitute for others, infringe upon others, offend others, suppress others, and exploit others. Modern commercial wars and wars of all kinds—what are they in essence? They are wars of deprivation and wars of aggression, all of which constitute stealing. In many matters, whether individuals or nations, because of ignorance and delusion and blazing desires, they commit stealing.
