The Blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas

There are many such instances. For individuals whose conditions for learning Buddhism have ripened, even before they formally begin their studies, Guanyin Bodhisattva or other great Bodhisattvas or the Buddha may bless them through dreams to facilitate their swift faith in and study of Buddhism. After they start learning Buddhism, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will also bless them in dreams. Some people who are gravely ill and lying in the hospital may receive nectar sprinkled on their heads by Guanyin Bodhisattva, and by the next day, they recover. This is not surprising at all, and it also involves matters of karmic connection.

Receiving the manifest blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas stems from the good roots, merits, and karmic connections cultivated through Buddhist practice in past lives. Such a person may not necessarily be highly accomplished in practice; they might be a beginner, merely having faith in Buddhism. Bodhisattvas, seeking to deliver sentient beings, employ various forms and methods. They do not exclusively help those with deep good roots and merits; they also assist beginners, enabling them to develop faith in the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
