To Truly Eradicate Self-View Requires Contemplating the Non-Self Nature of Manas

Does the mental faculty not recognize the five aggregates as the self and not cling to them? Would the mental faculty cling to itself? The mental faculty establishes itself as the self and as real, thereby clinging to its sense of autonomy and refusing to relinquish it. This is the function of the mental faculty's auto-awareness. This view must also be eradicated to truly eliminate the view of self. Therefore, when contemplating to eliminate the view of self, one must also contemplate that the mental faculty is not the self. Among the eighteen constituents that are not the self, the mental faculty is one; it too must be eradicated to genuinely eliminate the view of self.
