Selected Lectures on the Pitāputra-samāgama Sūtra (137)

Original text: Great King, the palace city of that king was lofty and vast, majestic and splendid, with rows of Tala trees planted upon it. Jeweled nets spread all around, and jeweled bells chimed in harmony, producing wondrous sounds like the music of five kinds. At that time, the people, relying on the king's virtuous blessings and guidance, lived in wealth, joy, freedom, and peaceful stability.

Explanation: The Buddha said: Great King, the palace city of King Wubiancheng was tall and expansive, dignified and magnificent, with rows of Tala trees planted upon it. Jeweled nets covered the entire palace city, and jeweled bells chimed harmoniously to produce exquisite sounds, akin to the music produced by five instruments playing in concert. The people of that time, relying on King Wubiancheng's blessings and guidance, lived a life of prosperity, joy, freedom, and peaceful tranquility.
