How to Counteract One's Craving and Sensations?

The aggregate of sensation arises when you encounter the six dusts (sense objects) and develop a cognitive awareness of the objects—perceiving sweetness, perceiving pain, perceiving sights, perceiving smells, perceiving sounds. After this, feelings of pleasant sensation, unpleasant sensation, and neutral sensation emerge. Only then does the aggregate of sensation manifest. The six consciousnesses apply attention to the six dusts, followed by contact, then reception and assimilation, then conceptual discrimination and knowing, then the feeling of the aggregate of sensation, then volition, which makes choices and determinations, leading to the formation of the aggregate of volition.

In daily life, carefully examine your various sensations and feelings. Investigate what you are clinging to with greed, what matters you are concerned about, and what affairs you are expending mental effort and energy on. Once identified, analyze what this mental state is, what significance it holds, and what its outcome will be. Then, seek methods to remedy your clinging and sensations. By practicing in this way, obscurations will be cleared away, and progress on the path will accelerate.
