All material dharmas maintain the same state regardless of whether they are observed by the conscious mind; they do not exist in one state when observed and another when unobserved. Without the conscious mind's observation, who could ascertain the state of material dharmas? One can only speculate, and such speculated dharmas are neither reliable nor credible. Therefore, not all scientific pursuits possess scientific nature.
For instance, Zhang San's appearance remains largely unchanged whether observed by others' conscious minds or not. One's own house persists in its form whether one is present to observe it or not—there is no difference or alteration. This applies to all material dharmas within one's reach: whether observed or not, their appearance aspect remains substantially consistent, without variation or transformation.
