What Does "Samanantara" Mean?

Equal and immediate continuity refers to the successive arising and ceasing of homogeneous seeds without interruption. For instance, with consciousness seeds, the previous consciousness seed arises and ceases at a certain location, and the next one immediately follows, also arising and ceasing at the same location. In this manner, consciousness seeds arise and cease successively one after another, enabling consciousness to continuously carry out discriminative activities.
