From the self-attachment within oneself, seek out the self-attachment of the manas. Compare them to discern the difference between the self-attachment of consciousness and that of the manas. Then, within the self-attachment and lack of self-attachment of the manas, observe the self-cognizing part of self-cognition (svasaṃvitti-svasaṃvitti) within the manas. Continuously enhance your capacity for thinking and observation. In the future, your ability for self-study and self-cultivation will strengthen, eliminating the constant need for rote memorization. Reciting repeatedly without knowing whether it is correct, lacking the ability to rely on the Dharma, one is forced to rely on others, thereby making progress on the Path exceedingly difficult.
