What is liberation? Liberation is the relinquishment of all afflictions of greed, hatred, and ignorance; liberation is having no attachment or bondage to form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or thought, neither craving nor resenting, neither rejoicing nor grieving; liberation is having no attachment or bondage to any person, matter, or object, neither craving nor resenting, neither rejoicing nor grieving, regarding things as equal whether they are present or absent; liberation is responding to food, clothing, shelter, necessities, and activities according to conditions without seeking, free from a mind of greedy acquisition; liberation is living in the world, knowing contentment and taking things as they come, without indulging in unrealistic thoughts; liberation is neither dwelling on the past nor fantasizing about the future, nor clinging to the present moment, where thoughts arise and cease without lingering; liberation is having a mind unattached to any person, matter, or object, clearly understanding their nature of suffering, emptiness, impermanence, and non-self, comprehending their origins and transformations, and recognizing their illusory and unattainable nature; liberation is having a mind empty of all phenomena, free and unobstructed.
