All Things in Heaven and Earth Are Theft When Taken

All things in heaven and earth, when taken, constitute theft; all sensations are karmic actions, each bearing karmic retribution involving life and death, differing only in the gravity and moral quality of the karmic deeds. Regardless of good or evil, as long as it pertains to conditioned phenomena, it inevitably attracts the suffering of birth and death. For within heaven and earth, nothing belongs to you—including your physical body and mental consciousness—all are theft from the Tathāgatagarbha. Only after completely severing the view of self does one cease to violate the precept against stealing. Only by not violating the precept against stealing can one attain Buddhahood.
