Elimination of Self-View (ahaṃkāra-mamakāra-parityāga) Is the Contemplative Practice (vipaśyanā-caryā) on the Falsity of the Five Aggregates (pañca-skandha)

Eliminating self-view (ātma-dṛṣṭi) means contemplating the five aggregates (pañcaskandha) as to their unreality, emptiness (śūnyatā), and selflessness; it is not about transforming the body into some particular state. Changing the body relies on the power of meditative concentration (samādhi)—even without eliminating self-view, one can change the physical body merely by cultivating meditative concentration, making the body become incomplete and disabled, and only then can one confirm that the physical body is without self. But aren't those people whose bodies are paralyzed or disabled still deeply entrenched in self-view? If through contemplative practice (vipaśyanā-caryā) you could turn the physical body into gold, perhaps your self-view would become even heavier. The key lies in one's understanding and cognition: to know through valid direct cognition that the physical body is false, empty, and unreal. Change your thinking, not your body. Do not contemplate yourself into becoming a cripple—if your meditative power happens to grow stronger and your body really develops problems, wouldn't you be in trouble? It is enough to contemplate that the body is something assembled together.
