The Mind Root Is the Governing Consciousness

Some people act one way on the surface and another way in secret, or say one thing and do another. Superficially, what gives people illusions are thoughts from consciousness, while what they actually do in private aligns with the thoughts of the Manas. They say what comes from consciousness, but their actions align with the thoughts of the Manas. Therefore, when interacting with others, we must be good at observing people. Do not just listen to how well someone speaks; observe the true thoughts within their Manas. Some people may speak eloquently, but their actual thoughts are the opposite. Such a person is extremely hypocritical and dishonest.

If someone wants to give you something, observe whether he genuinely intends to give it to you or if he is pretending to give it while having other thoughts and purposes. If the Manas is unwilling to give, but the consciousness feels compelled to do so in action, the consequences may not be good, as he will try to take it back. If we want something from others, we should observe whether they are truly willing to accept it, whether the Manas agrees, or whether only the consciousness is willing to accept while the Manas is not. Do not merely trust what their surface consciousness displays; observe their inner Manas. The Manas is the master consciousness, representing a person's character and integrity, as well as their true cultivation.
