The Secret of Appearance

A person's voice can reflect their character, temperament, disposition, cultivation, and inherent nature—whether it is simple and straightforward or hypocritical and cunning, bright or dark. A person's facial features can also reflect their cultivation, character, temperament, disposition, knowledge, demeanor, and more. Even aspects like bones, jawline, muscles, body shape, skin, and so forth can reveal a person's character, temperament, and disposition—whether they are diligent or lazy, strict and serious or lax, negligent, and undisciplined, sunny or gloomy, and so on.

Everyone truly ought to take responsibility for their own appearance, as it has been cultivated through their own actions over countless lifetimes. When dissatisfied with one's appearance, one should not blame their parents or heaven; instead, they should reproach themselves. Such arrogance in a past life results in short stature in this life. If a person's muscles are very slack, they are likely lax and lazy, with undisciplined thoughts, the type who muddles along. Those with an unaligned, crooked posture often have an unaligned heart. An upright person has a righteous heart and body; their facial features are aligned, their skin is taut, and their countenance is serious. Even their gaze is straight, looking directly ahead with integrity. From their facial features, one can also discern which realm of rebirth they came from in their past life—this is more accurate when they are younger. One can also foresee which realm they will be reborn into in the future—this becomes more accurate as they grow older.
