Heretics who hold the view of non-existence deny the existence of form even when seeing it with their own eyes. Since they claim it is non-existent, why do they speak of it? Heretics who hold the view of existence assert that all form is real and indestructible, even though it is clearly impermanent and empty. The Dharma expounded by the Buddha is neither existence nor non-existence, not existence and not non-existence, both existence and non-existence, neither non-existent nor non-non-existent. To grasp one aspect while neglecting the others is the view of heretics. The Buddha Dharma is eternally comprehensive and consistent; it is coherent whether explained from one perspective or another. Heretical doctrines, however, are always unable to be self-consistent and are inherently self-contradictory.
