Contemplating the Mind

When hearing others praise and boast about oneself, one feels joyful and comfortable in the heart—what kind of mind is this? When hearing others blame or mock, one feels resentment—what kind of mind is this? When seeing people, matters, or objects unrelated to oneself, one pays no attention—what kind of mind is this? When seeing people, matters, or objects closely related to oneself, one pays special attention—what kind of mind is this? How do these minds arise? How do they change? How do they cease? At this moment, which of the Five Aggregates (skandhas) gives rise to this mind? Are these Five Aggregates you? Does everyone cling to this mind, cling to these feelings and perceptions?
