What Is the Realm of Following One’s Desires Without Overstepping the Bounds?

Discipline means rules and regulations. Some people restrain themselves to abide by the rules, while others act freely without restraint yet never overstep or violate the rules. When the mental faculty is subdued and afflictions are eradicated, whatever one does will not exceed the boundaries of discipline, for the mind no longer resonates with afflictions and does not create karmic actions rooted in afflictions. Without an afflicted mind, there are no karmic actions arising from afflictions. Just as an ox, once tamed, requires no supervision to refrain from trampling crops, and just as a monkey, once subdued, ceases to rampage.
