If one's wisdom is insufficient, even when attempting to rely on the teachings, one will be unable to do so properly because they cannot comprehend the teachings. Without understanding the true meaning and intent of the teachings, one will often misinterpret or misunderstand them. Relying on such misinterpreted teachings and then using them as a reference to compare with what others say will inevitably lead to erroneous conclusions, as the basis for comparison is flawed. Consequently, one will be unable to accurately discern whether others' words are genuine and correct.
If wisdom is lacking, even the desire to rely on the Dharma will be futile, as one similarly cannot grasp the true meaning and intent of the Dharma principles. Regarding the Dharma principles, one will either misinterpret them or have only a vague, unclear understanding. Unable to comprehend the Dharma meaning spoken by others or to truly understand it, one thus cannot accurately judge whether others' words are genuine and correct. In this state, one gains no benefit from the Dharma. If, despite this, one insists on forcefully asserting opinions everywhere and judging others, it easily creates the karma of slander. This not only obstructs one's own spiritual practice and realization but also brings the karmic retribution of foolish slander. Therefore, when one's wisdom is still insufficient, one should immerse oneself in diligent study and practice, refraining from judging any Dharma or any person. Be a wise individual: do not create unwholesome karma and thus avoid suffering its corresponding retribution.
