For a Dharma teaching to penetrate deep into the heart, one must immerse themselves in meditation, practicing both calm-abiding and special insight. By constantly contemplating within this state of concentration, uninterrupted mental engagement is formed, dwelling upon it constantly. The mental faculty will then firmly grasp this Dharma, investigating it silently. One day, this Dharma will be thoroughly comprehended. Without sufficient concentration, the meaning of the Dharma cannot penetrate the heart, cannot give rise to a doubtful sensation, and thus no breakthrough will occur. One cannot investigate and uncover its substantive essence.
