The Principle of Concentration's Susceptibility to Influence

When you stare intently at a person, the more concentrated your attention, the more easily you become influenced and affected; the contagion occurs more readily. Why is this so?

When you focus intently on staring at the other person, your concentration strengthens. Every movement and action of the other person can enter your mind, synchronizing with their words, actions, gestures, and facial expressions. Your mind then becomes influenced. If the other person nods, you may unconsciously nod along; if they shake their head, you may unconsciously shake yours. You might even answer for them, do what they are about to do, think what they think, feel their urgency, and be carried away by their train of thought.

Compassion means considering issues from the other person's perspective, immersing yourself in their mental state, and merging your heart with theirs. If you do not focus intently on the other person, your mind becomes scattered. You will not fully understand their mental states and behaviors, making it impossible to merge with them. Consequently, their words and actions will have no influence on you.
